How Often Should The Litter Box Be Completely Changed

Jun 09, 2025

1. Mineral sand: Whether it is fine sand or coarse sand, it is necessary to scoop cat litter and replenish new cat litter every day. Uncoagulated cat litter around can be contaminated with cat urine and feces to some extent, and can also breed bacteria. It's best to replace it completely within a week, even cleaning the litter box together to keep the environment clean.
2. Crystal cat litter: Depending on the product characteristics, crystal cat litter can be replaced every two to four weeks. Change once every two weeks for products with high usage and short cleaning ability. Just replace the cat litter that has been contaminated with cats and change the bottom cat diaper pad frequently in daily life.
3. Wood dust sand: Use a double-layer cat litter box with wood dust sand that can be spread thicker, about 5 to 10 centimeters, and can last for two to three weeks. Just clean the cat's feces and replenish new cat litter every day. After about two to three weeks, the cat litter will gradually produce a foul odor. At this time, you can consider cleaning the litter box and replacing the entire sawdust litter.
